Weather Service Provider StormGeo to Share Hurricane Safety Tips at Texas State Aquarium on April 17

May 8, 2018

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – On Tuesday, April 17 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m., weather service provider StormGeo will hold a Hurricane Roadshow in the CITGO Skyline Venue at the Texas State Aquarium.

StormGeo will conduct a presentation which will discuss in detail on how their services are used to provide the most up-to-date information on weather patterns. The Roadshow will also include some safety tips to get ready for the upcoming hurricane season and will feature leading industry experts sharing how StormGeo clients have stayed safe and prepared for hurricane seasons each year.

StormGeo was most notably used by the Aquarium to prepare for the landfall of Hurricane Harvey in August 2017. Aquarium officials consulted StormGeo’s reports in advance and during the storms to gain far more detailed information than they could receive from free online weather services. This data allowed officials to make more informed decisions and take adequate preparations to protect their staff, animals, and building. Thanks in part to StormGeo and the subsequent work of Aquarium staff, the Texas State Aquarium sustained minimal damage during Hurricane Harvey and re-opened shortly after Hurricane Harvey had passed. No animals or staff were harmed during the storm.

“I’m very glad that we chose to work with StormGeo when we did, just a week prior to Hurricane Harvey,” said Texas State Aquarium Director of Operations Justin Sefcik. “I think the service was invaluable during our ride out.”

Media are welcome to attend the Hurricane Roadshow. Please RSVP if planning to attend at [email protected] or by calling 361-881-1259.
