TSA Saddened by Unexpected Loss of Bottlenose Dolphin

April 14, 2012

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The Texas State Aquarium is saddened to report the unexpected passing of one of our Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, DJ.  DJ, short for De Janeiro, was born in November of 1996 at the Minnesota Zoo.

DJ came to the Texas State Aquarium in 2006, and since then has helped us entertain, educate and convey important conservation messages to millions of our guests.  A necropsy will be performed by our veterinarian, and once we know more, we will share that information.  In the meantime our thoughts are with our team who cared for DJ.
