CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas— Beach Ball 2011 will be hosted at the Texas State Aquarium this Saturday, April 9, beginning at 5:30 p.m. In addition to live, blackboard, and silent auctions, Beach Ball will feature incredible entertainment with Houston show band, Doppelganger, rocking the party till after midnight!
Proceeds from Beach Ball will help fund a fun-filled new addition to the Aquarium—Dorsey’s Splash Park! The area formerly known as the Kids’ Port Playground is now underway to becoming the first WetScape Interactive Water Play Attraction in the Coastal Bend. Dorsey’s Splash Park will feature state-of-the-art water spray jets, a fossil dig, and new seating and picnic areas. As a zero-depth water play area, the splash park features water that is sprayed from upright structures or ground sprays and then drained before it can accumulate, giving access to all and simultaneously conserving water usage. The fossil dig is a unique attraction where guests of all ages can unearth fossilized remains of animals that roamed the Coastal Bend 13,000 years ago. Just in time for the summer heat, Dorsey’s Splash Park will have its Grand Opening over Memorial Day weekend!
The mission of the Texas State Aquarium is to connect people with nature and inspire conservation
of the Gulf of Mexico.
The Aquarium is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums
and the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums.
