It's not Halloween without Boo! In The Blue

The Texas State Aquarium is thrilled to welcome you back for Halloween under a Spooktacular Sea with its annual Boo! in the Blue event on Saturday, October 21st, and Sunday, October 22nd.  All activities are included with admission or membership, and children (ages 3 to 12) in costume will get a 50% admission discount* with the purchase of a full-priced adult admission. Membership admission is not applicable for child discounts.

Spooky décor and haunted habitats will bring an eerie experience to Aquarium guests. Underwater skeletons, jack-o-lanterns carved by divers with ocean creatures, and giant shark jaws covered in cobwebs will all make for some fin-tastic photo ops.

The Aquarium will be open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on both days with “Boo! In The Blue” activities from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Saturday, October 19

11:00 a.m. – Diver in the water – Caribbean Sea Level 1 – Coral Reef Exhibit

12:00 p.m. – Halloween Otter Enrichment – Otter Creek

1:00 p.m. – Halloween Dolphin Enrichment – Dolphin Bay Stadium

2:00 p.m. – Chance the Owl – Caribbean Journey – Level 2

3:00 p.m. – Meet Ruby, the rainbow boa – Caribbean Journey – Level 2

Sunday, October 20

11:00 a.m. – Diver in the water – Caribbean Sea Level 1 – Coral Reef Exhibit

12:00 p.m. – Halloween Otter Enrichment – Otter Creek

1:00 p.m. – Halloween Ocelot Enrichment – Ocelot Area

2:00 p.m. – Meet the Macaw – Caribbean Journey – Level 2

3:00 p.m. – Sea turtle enrichment – Tortuga Cay

Virtual Costume Contest

A virtual costume contest will be held starting the weekend of the event, October 19th, and ending October 30th, 2024. 

Winning is super easy!

  1. Come to the Aquarium during our Boo! in the Blue event between October 19th and October 30th and take a picture of your amazing costume! *Be creative with the location you choose around the Aquarium.
  2. Submit your photos by tagging us @txstateaquarium on Instagram or Facebook
  3. Follow us on Instagram or Facebook.
  4. The winner for the three best costumes will be announced on social media platforms on October 31!

* Only kids up to 13 years old will be considered for the Boo! in the Blue virtual costume contest.
