In honor of National Frog Day, enjoy this video of the Poison Dart Frogs of the Texas State Aquarium!
In honor of National Frog Day this Saturday, today’s Creature Feature is the Ornate Horned Frog, featured in the Aquarium’s Amazon exhibit. The Ornate Horned Frog has earned the nickname “The PacMan Frog” because of it’s indiscriminate eating habits, and the size of its mouth in proportion to its body. This frog is a camouflage expert, see if you can find him next time you visit us!
Did you find the Poison Dart Frog? This Saturday is National Frog Day, so we are celebrating by featuring the Poison Dart Frog as this week’s Creature Feature.
Amazonian natives rub their darts on a frog’s poisonous skin. The poisoned darts are then loaded into a blowgun and used to kill animals for food!
Another fun fact about poison dart frogs is that they are only poisonous when they ingest certain types of foods. Here at the Aquarium, they are not poisonous, because of their diet.
Come back to our blog every day this week for an interesting new fact about FROGS!
