Texas State Aquarium Appoints Education and Conservation Director

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – After 15 years away, Leslie Peart has returned to Corpus Christi and the Texas State Aquarium to serve as the organization’s Education and Conservation Director.  Prior to her new post, Peart spent eight years directing education activities for the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program’s Deep Earth Academy based at the Consortium for Ocean Leadership in Washington D.C., where she worked in close collaboration with scientists and staff aboard the research vessel JOIDES Resolution


Her informal science education experience includes five years as Interpretive and Guest Services Director at Chicago’s John G. Shedd Aquarium, two years as the inaugural Education Director at the Alaska SeaLife Center, and three years as a program specialist at the Texas State Aquarium; building on 13 years of teaching at Mary Carroll and West Oso high schools in Corpus Christi.
