Imagine a child's face and hands painted to the cool surface of Dolphin Bay's underwater window, his face alight with awe as a graceful dolphin swims inches from his face. Now picture a child's expression of astonishment, her hair blowing in the breeze created by a Red Tailed hawk swooping just inches overhead. Or a collective gasp of amazement as a falcon snags a lure mid-flight in the Hawn Wild Flight Theater.

Moments like this happen every day at the Texas State Aquarium where we bring the wonders of nature within reach - providing a close, personal experience with wildlife.

Each year, the Texas State Aquarium brings alive the stories of marine and coastal animals and their habitats through our many exhibits. We care for hundreds of sick or injured animals as part of our wildlife rehabilitation mission, and we reach out to tens of thousands of children with our environmental educational programs provided both on-site and through distance learning and outreach programs.

The mission of the Texas State Aquarium is to inspire appreciation and wise stewardship of the Gulf of Mexico. To accomplish this, we aim to:
  • To provide educationally enriching, entertaining programming to a diverse audience;
  • To develop entertaining interactive exhibits that engage and inspire;
  • To promote and practice environmental conservation and wildlife rehabilitation;
  • To provide first-class guest services; and
  • To operate as a private, self-supporting, not-for-profit organization.

You can help us in this important mission of connecting people to nature and share the knowledge that each of us can make a difference in our environment, and contribute to a brighter future.

As the official Aquarium for Texas, the Texas State Aquarium is a source of pride for our community and our state. However, the Aquarium receives no operating funds from the state, county, or the City of Corpus Christi, outside of specific grant projects. Your tax deductible donation will help support the Aquarium’s mission.
